Quotes

“It is with pleasure that I mark the opening of the extension of Highway 410 in the Sherbrooke region. This new section will allow heavy vehicles to bypass downtown Lennoxville, in addition to decongesting and securing the area. The Government of Canada is proud to have contributed more than $37 million to this important project for the Eastern Townships. By investing in such essential infrastructure, the federal government increases the potential for regional economic development while ensuring the well-being of local communities. After two years of major work, adding 4.2 km of highway can go a long way.” - The Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Member of Parliament for Compton-Stanstead, the Honorable Marie-Claude Bibeau, on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, the Honorable Catherine McKenna

“I am happy to announce the opening of this new portion of the highway which will improve the flow of traffic on the southern outskirts of Sherbrooke. Despite the particular context we are experiencing, we have kept our commitment to making this new section available to drivers this year. This commissioning thus marks the end of the most important project carried out by the Department in Estrie in the last 25 years.” - François Bonnardel, Minister of Transport and Minister responsible for the Eastern Township region

“We are so proud to see the culmination of this significant stage in the extension of Autoroute 410, which has advantages both in terms of mobility and road safety! This achievement brings great added value to the daily lives of citizens, who will reduce their travel time and will now enjoy direct access to highways 10 and 55.”- Geneviève Hébert, Member of Parliament for Saint-François and Deputy Whip of the government

“Simply put, the extension of Highway 410 connects the two university hubs in less than 10 minutes. It is also an artery that will simplify access to Sherbrooke's commercial hub and improve the quality of life for citizens in the southern part of the city.” - Steve Lussier, Mayor of Sherbrooke
