Hello,

I often tell you about the many efforts the Government of Canada is making to support those who need it most. This month, I want you to draw your attention to some key elements of our economic strategy.

We are fortunate in Canada to have hard-working people and access to so many resources. That’s why we are making strategic and responsible investments in clean technologies, electric cars, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and biomanufacturing.

Through all of these efforts and investments, we are striving to make Canada the most competitive place in the world for clean technology companies that are focused on a carbon-neutral future.

Enjoy your reading!

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Based in Quebec, covering the Montreal-Waterloo corridor, Canada’s global innovation cluster in artificial intelligence (Scale AI) brings together the retail, manufacturing, transportation, infrastructure, information and communications technologies to build more “smart” and efficient supply chains - like at KRUGER in Bromptonville. CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES

Canadian cleantech entrepreneurs are making great strides in developing solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges, from energy efficient buildings to advancing sustainable agriculture, through waste management and innovations related to safe water supply. These advances benefit our economy, our workforce and our environment.

THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA IS INVESTING IN BETTER HEALTH CARE.

The recent agreement with the provinces provides a transfer of $198.6 billion over the next 10 years, an increase of $48 billion. Like the other provinces, Quebec will receive an additional transfer based on its objectives, including access to family doctors, mental health care, the treatment of health workers and the digitization of the system.

ELECTRIC CARS AND BATTERIES

Canada is positioning itself to become a world leader in the production of electric vehicles (EVs) and all their components. We are already 2nd in the EV battery supply chain. We are the only country in the Western Hemisphere capable of manufacturing EVs from beginning to end, and we have the infrastructure and free trade agreements to directly access the two largest global markets; the United States and the European Union.

When electric vehicles are made from Canadian minerals, assembled by Canadian workers and powered by Canadian-made chargers, our economy grows and we keep our air clean now and for the future!

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS

Since April 2022, the Government of Canada has funded the installation of 25,000 EV chargers, 22 natural gas refueling stations and 19 hydrogen refueling stations, and that’s just the beginning!

The municipalities of Cookshire-Eaton and East Angus recently opened new fast chargers by participating in the RechargeÉco program, initiated by Earth Day and funded in part by Natural Resources Canada.

QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES

The National Quantum Strategy contributes to the success of our scientists, the development of technologies, and the expansion of Canadian talent and entrepreneurs. GPS, LED lights and smartphone clocks are a few examples.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada, the Université de Sherbrooke QUANTUM INSTITUTE features scientific equipment, the latest laboratories and new spaces. It enables the training of highly qualified personnel, the hosting of international conferences and the holding of specialized workshops.
